SME access to finance
Removing the first constraint on business growth.
Only 22.6% of Senegalese companies have a bank loan or credit line, and 68% of SMEs do not even approach a financial institution, often expecting to be turned down (ADEPME, World Bank). Access to finance is the first of the five private-sector priorities championed by CNES.
Action taken
- Institutional visits to FONGIP and CNP to strengthen SME financing (May 2026);
- Presentation at CNES headquarters of PAYKapital (19 May 2026), the supply chain finance platform of CDMP, a CDC subsidiary, with the fintech Proboutik: a fully digital reverse factoring mechanism, with technical support from IFC, giving SMEs faster financing backed by real transactions.
Major projects 2026-2027
- Reform of SME financing and better access to credit;
- New financing mechanisms;
- Shorter payment times.
